Deborah Rimbey art resume

                                             “I’m hooked on pastels.”

Throughout her life, Deborah’s art is an outlet to express endless beauty experienced in a world that sometimes seems colorless and cold.

The vibrant colors and the hands on technique of pastel medium provides me the freedom to express my love to paint and draw at the same time.  Having painted with oils and acrylics in the past, I am pleasantly surprised how challenging painting with pastels really is”, Deborah admits.

Drawing and painting has always given Deborah a sense of feeling grounded within her self since she was young.  When five years old, her mother could not believe that she drew Mickey Mouse free hand.  Her parents sent her to get professional art classes in oils when she was eight years old and also portrait lessons using pastel pencils at ten years old.  “In high school, art was her favorite subject and received compliments and awards for her work.

Getting married early in life and having twins at 19, Deborah was challenged with raising children as a single mom.  Now a very busy time in her life, painting/drawing still was a weekly outlet to center/ground herself.  Since 2000, she began finishing her bachelor degree in Sociology.  Having found creative energy through association with other professionals, Deborah has energetically pushed herself to develop and continue to master the pastel medium.

Deborah artwork has been shown in Longmont, Loveland, and Louisville for the past three years.  She has won a merit award at the Louisville Members Art show of December, 2006 for her pastel painting, “Pool of Koi”, she received a People’s Choice award for her portrait “Noble Woman” in a art show at the Creative Frame Shop/Gallery, Louisville, in 2008, plus her work has shown been accepted by Juried National Fine Art Shows in 2007 and 2008.  Deborah is a member of the Pastel Society of Northern Rockies, a member of the Louisville Art Association, and has been a member of the Longmont Council of Art.  Her work can be viewed in Boulder, CO at her gallery called “Three Sisters Gallery” and at the “Independence Gallery” in Loveland, CO.  Deborah has a wide range of subject matter from portraits, to cityscapes, to landscapes and abstracts.

Recently, Deborah has started organizing plans with a group of artists, banks, and merchant/store owners in the North Boulder area to create a group effort to bring NOBO Night Out for possible festivals, farmers markets, and art walks to artists studio’s and local merchants/stores.

Besides enjoying art,  her husband, Fred and her, proudly own and operate a locally owned Green Certified business for the past 10 years called, “Lady Bug Carpet Care”, that services the Front Range Area.

Deborah has been a volunteer for the Victim Advocate Department of the Boulder Co. Sheriff’s Dept in Longmont-- 2005, 2006; she also volunteered for the MESA, Moving to End Sexual Assault, in Boulder in 2006. Deborah received a Volunteer Excellence Award from the Boulder County Sheriffs Dept in 2005 for work related with the Katrina victims who came to Colorado.
